Four Duck Eggs And Seven Hen Eggs..

The blog title could be describing the Tory party.

Spring must be on its way?  The hens and ducks are giving us fresh eggs every day.

The hens in fairness never stopped laying but the ducks did and they have started laying again.

I will have to look up some recipes that use eggs.  We have been making omelettes and baking bread.

I wouldn't mind a cake.  Hmm...🤔?  A Black Forest Gateaux or a nice sponge cake.

  2. Oooh imagine the wonderful things you can make with those duck eggs - how about a bacon and egg pie?

  3. We are getting about three dozen eggs a week at the moment Tigger's Mum. We eat them and so do the pigs with their new bonhams. Bacon and egg pie sounds great. Must look it up. All day breakfast for our tea tonight with our home laid eggs of course.

  4. I would love chickens and ducks, our garden is far to small even for a couple of chicks, so I will enjoy seeing yours.

  5. Bantams would be ok for a garden Poppypatchwork. Our poultry cost 12.50 Euros a week for their food. I suppose you could get three dozen eggs for that price from a cut price supermarket? Ours are fresh and the hens and ducks provide us with nitrogen rich strawy manure for the veg plot.

  6. You can make sweet bread which needs eggs, or some of those cakes which call for 6 eggs. I never make those because it seems a waste. But when you have so many you can indulge. Meat loaf stuffed with boiled eggs and cheese. It's really good! Have you tried pickled eggs. Never eaten them but it seems to be very English. Maybe not Irish.
