We all lost at least two years of our social lives to the lockdown.
On Saturday we drove to Limerick to see the mighty Clannad. It was my fourth time of seeing them and probably the best.
The UCH in Limerick is set in a modern campus down leafy avenues and it's capacity is 1000. Much more intimate than those big arenas where your lucky if you can see the silhouettes moving on stage.
I even bought a t shirt and will wear it when I see them again ar a festival in Blighty in August.
It was great to see a live band again. Clannad rocked!

Have you any gigs planned?
Seems like you had a good time, Dave.
ReplyDeleteNo gigs planned for us, unless you count listening to 'im indoors singing in the shower.
It was a great day out and concert JayCee. We visited counties Cork, Kerry, Clare and Limerick in the same day and night and Clannad were fantastic. There will be some good cover bands playing this weekend at the TT races. Does P have a good list of songs he sings?
ReplyDeleteMostly Meat Loaf but I turn off my hearing aids.
Delete"Like a Bat out of Hell on a silver black phantom bike".
ReplyDeleteThat beats the hell out of bazouki music... can't wait to return to the lands of music i can identify with. Looks like you had a great time.
ReplyDeleteIt was so special Tigger. Watching a multi talented band of 7 musicians perform their last ever tour and being part of a very enthusiastic and musically knowledgeable audience. Life is back to normal. It's time to celebrate and get some concert tickets.
ReplyDeleteI left a comment Dave, don't know whether it went into Spam. I'll repeat if you don't find it.
ReplyDeleteThis is the comment I found Rachel. Thanks for commenting. Did you ever see Clannad when you lived in Newcastle?
DeleteThe first comment must have disappeared. No, I never saw Clannad but they sound great and a band I would like. I am going to listen to some of their stuff. Good to see you are back going to gigs. I have nothing planned for myself.
DeleteYou will know their theme music for Harry's Game and Robin The Hooded Man Rachel. They are playing Croperdy and the Cambridge Folk Festival in August. You can buy day tickets if you don't want to go to all the festivals.
DeleteDo you mean an Irish gig? No Irish gigs (jigs) planned but I am glad that you go to see an uplifting concert in a fairly small venue
ReplyDeleteThanks YP. I was starting to think I would never see a band again.
DeleteWell, I'm happy for you. You've been waiting for this for months now.
ReplyDeleteThanks Debby. Hope you get to see some bands soon.
ReplyDeleteGood for you - I am SO delighted that all the lockdowns are over; never agin, I hope. No concerts for me, but family, friends and picnics are enough to keep me happy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark. Concerts are one thing I have missed so much since the lockdowns. We lost so much precious time of our very short lives.
