More Carboot Sales Shopping.

We got up about eight this morning and went to a carboot sale, just for a change.

I bought a strong plastic flexi tub for weeding made by Gardena and I bought myself another miners lamp made in Eccles where the cakes come from.  I have two now and I gave my one I found last year to my brother for a Christmas present.

Have you been to any carboot sales recently?

  4. No I have not Nosy Parker! On my mother's side of the family, there were many coal miners and I would have loved to be in possession of one of their old lamps. I am not sure that any other lamps would hit the right emotional spot.

    3. Reading glasses will be no use down a coal mine. You need a hard hat and a caged canary called Tweetie Pie.

We watched Antiques Roadshow on the Beeb last night and they went to a former Northumberland Colliery. There was an ex miner showing Fiona (Stevie's sister) Bruce his old mining lamps. Apparently they only carried them to show gas and the pits have electricity and lights. We once went down a mine in Wakefield. You went down in the lift but you could exit the mine by walking up a slope.
